Responsible AI takes more than technology

Wan Azman has over 35 years of international experience in various industries. He returned to Malaysia from the USA in October 2013 under the Returning Expert Programme by TalentCorp Malaysia, with experience spanning green energy, aviation services, financial services, property development, construction, and oil and gas.

As Chief Operating Officer of ENCORP Berhad, he oversaw property development, construction, retail mall and facilities management. He previously served as Senior Manager – Internal Audit at Servisair LLC, Financial Controller at Deleum Berhad and Senior Regional Internal Auditor at Esso Group, covering Asia Pacific and Australia.

Wan Azman holds an MBA from the University of Miami and a B.Sc. in Accounting from California State University, Fresno.

Dr. Aini is a distinguished policymaker and strategist with extensive expertise in Science, Technology & Innovation Policy Development and Evaluation, Strategic Planning, Business Development, Innovation Management, AI Governance, Ethics and ESG, and International Strategic Alliances. She holds a PhD in STI Policy & Innovation Management from the University of Manchester, UK.

She chairs the Science, Technology, Engineering & Innovation Policy for Asia & Pacific Region Network under UNESCO, advises the Institute Sultan Iskandar, serves as Fellow Expert at UTM's Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, and represents Malaysia in the ISO Technical Working Group for Artificial Intelligence. She is also a Certified IEEE CertifAIEd™ Assessor for AI Ethics Standards.

Her national policy leadership includes the National STI Policy, Commercialisation Policy, Technopreneurship Policy & Action Plan, National Higher Education Action Plans, National Artificial Intelligence Roadmap, UTM SDG Blueprint, ISTIC Strategic Master Plan and STEPAN Action Plans under UNESCO.

Dr. Shah spearheads innovation at the intersection of AI and digital transformation. With over 18 years of experience in management consultancy and advanced ICT and TVET laboratory solutions, he integrates AI-powered learning ecosystems, smart classrooms, intelligent automation and adaptive learning technologies for government and industry stakeholders.

An experienced HRD Corp Trainer, he has designed and conducted programmes across Malaysia for thousands of participants, from entry-level professionals to senior management. He also develops AI-powered enterprise tools including project, workflow, asset, attendance and contract management systems, alongside data analytics dashboards.

As Chairman of Digital Technologies at the Malaysian Association of Engineers, he advocates digital transformation and innovation across the national engineering ecosystem.

Dato’ Dr. Husin Jazri is a cybersecurity professional and professor at Taylor’s University Malaysia. He founded CyberSecurity Malaysia, co-founded and became the first Co-Chair of Asia Pacific CERT, and founded and first chaired OIC-CERT. He received the ISC2 Harold Tipton Lifetime Achievement Award for his contributions to cybersecurity.

He is Director of the Global Centre for Cyber Safety at Taylor’s University and has held professorial roles at UNIMY, APU and Namibia University of Science and Technology. His work spans robust technical services and solutions across Europe and APAC.

A recognised expert on international cybersecurity policy and legal frameworks, he holds a PhD in Computer Science (Cybersecurity) from the National Defence University of Malaysia and professional qualifications including CISSP, CCLP and DPMP.

Professor Nik is a highly distinguished academic and researcher with over 35 years of experience in Mechanical Engineering across the Technical University of Berlin, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and Universiti Malaysia Pahang. He is currently Visiting Professor at UCSI University Kuala Lumpur and Professor of Mechanical Engineering at UMP.

His research focuses on Continuum Mechanics, Noise and Vibration, and Green Energy Management. His international recognition includes memberships, editorial appointments, scholarships and awards from organisations in the USA, Germany, Japan and Switzerland.

He has advised Malaysia's TVET empowerment task force, consulted on the Code of Practice of TVET Programme Accreditation at the Malaysian Qualifications Agency and served on the Board of Directors of UniMAP.

Datuk Zunaidah Idris brings over 30 years of expertise in investment banking and leadership. A seasoned HRD Corp Accredited Trainer, she previously served as Senior Vice President and Head of Dealing for the Corporate and Institutional Business Group at Hong Leong Investment Bank.

She founded the Women Leadership Foundation and serves on its Board of Trustees, developing mentorship and professional development initiatives and collaborations with organisations including ASB and Huawei. Her governance and sustainability work includes chairing the Institute of Malaysian Plantation and Commodities.

She served as Adjunct Professor at UTM and Industry External Advisor for the Finance & Banking School at APU/APIIT. She holds a Bachelor in Finance from Southern Illinois University and advocates Women and Youth empowerment.

Poedjo is a seasoned business strategist with over 30 years of experience leading organisational transformations in telecommunications, ICT and engineering. He specialises in digital transformation, robotic process automation and AI-driven solutions, and is currently Senior Advisor at SimplifyNext.

He has advised C-suite leaders through roles at Accenture, Huawei Technologies, Oracle, Sun Microsystems, Comverse and MD Labs, addressing business development, strategic planning, data analytics and operational efficiency.

A certified HRD Corp trainer, he mentors leaders in strategic thinking, adaptability and communication and delivers a Professional Diploma in Strategic Engagement and the Level 7 Business Strategy Professional programme.

Dr. Shazwin is a Senior Lecturer at UTM specialising in Environmental Management, Development Science and Sustainable Development. She holds a PhD and Master's in Development Science from Hiroshima University and has professional experience with IBM Malaysia and TDK Malaysia.

As Deputy Director of UTM Campus Sustainability from 2017 to 2023, she contributed to the UTM Sustainability Blueprint 2030 and Sustainability Report 2020–2022, while leading research initiatives across Asia, Europe and ASEAN.

She serves on ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 42 working groups, Malaysia's AI Code of Ethics committee for the communications industry and the National Blockchain and Artificial Intelligence Committee, and has completed IEEE CertifAIEd™ Assessor Training.

Ts. Olya Dollah is a professional IT trainer specialising in Microsoft, Google, Apple and Canva solutions, with a particular focus on AI-driven productivity for business and education.

Her programmes cover Google Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, AI for senior management, Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Canva and AppSheet. She delivers both on-site and remote technical training.

Olya is a Professional Technologist recognised by the Malaysia Board of Technology, an HRD TTT Certified Trainer, Google Workspace Authorized Trainer, Google Certified Trainer, Microsoft Educator Trainer and Microsoft Certified System Engineer. She is pursuing a PhD in Educational Technology with an AI specialisation.

Anthony Dominic is a technology leader with over 25 years of international experience in digital transformation and intelligence solutions, bridging business and technology to deliver complex, high-impact transformation programmes.

His leadership roles include Group Global General Manager in ICT Infrastructure, Security and Operations, Regional Business and Delivery Director at British Telecommunications and Senior Program Manager at IBM. His achievements include a 95% core infrastructure cloud migration, a 40% reduction in threats and 35% faster delivery through architecture standardisation.

Anthony holds an MBA from the University of Manchester and credentials including CISM, TOGAF, PMP, PRINCE2, ITIL, Certified Scrum Master, CISSP and ISO certifications. He is currently researching AI efficacy in higher education at PhD level.

Tajul is a technology and healthcare leader with over 22 years of experience in consulting, health IT implementations, SaaS solutions, entrepreneurship and C-suite leadership.

His career spans healthtech startups and global technology companies including SAP, Oracle and IBM, where he led government, education and healthcare business, built strategic partnerships and supported Malaysia's healthtech ecosystem.

He holds a Master's in Health Informatics & Analytics and a Bachelor's in Electronics and Multimedia Engineering, and is pursuing a PhD in Technology Management focused on AI in healthcare. He is a certified Professional Technologist with MBOT.

Dr. James is founder and managing director of the Artificial Intelligence International Institute, a think tank advocating Sustainable AI for Humanity, and co-author of AI for Humanity: Building A Sustainable AI for the Future. He is also Adjunct Professor at Singapore University of Technology and Design.

With over 35 years of industry and technology experience, he is an entrepreneur and ecosystem builder active across Asia and the United States. His appointments include Tech4SDG Alliance for Asia, World AI Conference, Asia AI Expo, IEEE Conference on AI, Berkeley China Summit, Global Fintech Institute and Singapore Chamber of Commerce.

Patricia has 20 years of experience as a lawyer in data, technology and regulatory and government affairs, and is a registered solicitor in England and Wales and the Republic of Ireland. Her work focuses on law, policy, ethics, algorithmic bias, high-impact automated decision-making, privacy and fairness.

She appeared on Computer Weekly's longlist of the Most Influential Women in UK Technology in 2021, 2022 and 2023. She is an expert advisor to the IEEE CertifAIEd ethical certification panel, an IEEE Maestro and a contributor to IEEE standards working groups covering algorithmic bias, adaptive instructional systems, AI, ESG and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
